The skinny carbines lugs and 30-round pre-2000 Colts, pinned down M4 stocks by Bushmaster, tri-delta brakes by Tactical, and Hammerhead grips by Exile Machine. This is a match-grade AR-15, which comes with precision rifled stainless barrel. Being a Mil-Spec AR-15, an A2 Handguard and Collapsible Synthetic Stock are also installed on the rifle. The 6 position, carbine-length, Mil-spec, receiver extender/buffer tube is combined with the unique, Mil-spec, adjustable AR-style synthetic stock.
The PRS GEN3 is designed for sniper-type semi-automatics or precision varmints, and mounts to both rifle-length and Mil-spec, and to the A5-length, carbine-length receiver extensions. The new-generation PRS (Precision Rifle/Sniper) stocks feature aluminum slat-slats, which simplify adjustment of draw length and cheekpiece height.
With four total length-of-pull positions, you can tailor your rifle to different scenarios and maximize comfort. You will need to be fairly tiny for this to comfortably pull with a No. Junkie is more than 6-feet tall and has really long arms, so I have to shoot mine at the number-one position all the time, or else I cannot comfortably carry my rifle.
I normally carry my carbines for first position anyways so aside from RRA pin stocks, this feels like any other rifle I have. It is never going to be a precision long-range rifle, particularly when shooting the 7N6, but at 6lbs6oz (it is 6lbs flatter when using Magpul grip/stock) it is a joy to transport. It does not seem to compromise on the comfort aspect at all coming from a MOE rifle buttstock with Hammerhead grip.
Meanwhile, a 15-inch, loose-floating handguard keeps both the 16.-inch carbine-length barrel and mid-length gas system safe. Despite having the 16-inch barrel of the carbine-length rifle as the barrel, Daniel Defense has used a gas system that is the middle of the length to ensure greater reliability. While there is the rare “dispersionator” model which has a sixteen-inch barrel, a rifle-length gas system is typically used with the eighteen-inch barrel. I cannot really advise on that, except to say my MFT Minimalist requires carbine-length recoil buffers and tubes, which might be consideration for the rifle-length system.
The M4s forged, M4-style, ad-iron, forged-steel 4140 barrel extensions, and a billet upper receiver with an M4 feed ramp, will provide dependable ammunition feeding. Forward-firing ports and a unique contour helps to alleviate the pressure within the upper receiver, which is caused when short-barreled rifles are operated suppressors. The design of both the upper and lower receivers allows shooters to swap out their barrels, stocks, handguards, grips, triggers–you name it, it can be done. This modularity also makes the AR-15 highly versatile, as it can be configured in a pinch, with the proper parts and accessories, to function like a precision DMR rifle (designated marksmans rifle), hunting rifle (using larger caliber barrels and ammunition), or, out of the box, a CQB (close-quarters combat) carbines, by just swapping the upper receiver and barrel.
The contours of an M4 are a critical component to an AR-15s upper receiver, so you will want to ensure that it matches your rifles barrel appropriately. The SP-BC08 is designed for AR-platform rifles equipped with Weaver-style rails or Picatinny.
Aero Precisions enhanced handguards have keymod mounting slots in the 3, 6, and 9 clock positions, and a Picatinny upper rail provides ample room for sights and optics. Leapers is now offering American-made UTG PRO M-LOK Handguards for AR-platform rifles, which are ultra-slim to the hand and allow for the barrel to freely move around in the AR. Thordo This small beaut is the first of two custom, zero-featured 3-Gun Competition Rifles built around our brand-new billet lower receivers (coming soon) and matching uppers.
Thordo Junkie wanted to take the Prima Arms Ambi for a spin, but was unsure of my feelings about using a polymer in such an important part of a rifle.
These include build (precision built or 18-gauge versus pistol built or shorter-gauge rifles), optics, triggers (single-stage versus double-stage), type of rifle (semi-auto versus full-auto), but let us cut to the chase for the sake of brevity.
