If our country needed a symbol from those early days to inspire us on what our country could and should become as a country, Betsy Rosss flag would be an excellent choice. The Three Gentlemen and Betsy Ross discussed creating a new flag for an emerging nation, and the result of this visit was the now-famous Betsy Ross Flag. It is easy to picture Gen. Washington randomly meeting a seamstress he already knew, living right across the street from them, to discuss creating a new flag for our country.
Called the nations first flag by many, it was created by Betsy Ross in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1776. Betsy Ross was a successful businesswoman of humble beginnings, sewing flags for herself, and her husband died while protecting our country.
What we are missing is written evidence, and since we live in an age where everything is recorded, skeptics exist that dispute Rosss legacy.
